Message from Mr. Grant

The other night the AEA had a conversation with the District about how we will make up our snow day.  The last student day will now be moved from June 11 to the 12 and it will continue to be an early release for the students and a full day for the teachers.  However, rather than making us work a full day after the last student day, which was our original calendar, the district has agreed that we will now only work a half day, trusting that the other half day of teacher directed time is being put in by teachers during those last few weeks of school.   So please note that the Summer begins at the half day on June 13.

For those of you who are searching for lesson plans that align with the Common Core you may want to check out the "Better Lessons" link at the WEA website- www.washingtonea.org. The NEA has created a website that has over 3,000 easily accessible lessons by grade level and topic that have been developed and tested by educators.  Hopefully this will help you with our common chore.

Finally a quick note of thanks to those of you who contacted your legislators and helped convince them not to tie our evaluations to our student test scores this year.  Please contact your AEA Building Rep about how you can help stop this terrible idea from resurfacing again next year.  Thank you for your dedication to Public Education.   Eric Grant
